The Naito Foundation Merit Award for Advancement of Science

Purpose

  • To give award to researchers who have made a remarkable research accomplishment for the progress and development of basic research field of natural science that contributes to the promotion of health in human being.

Qualification of candidates

  1. Researchers who have made a remarkable research result for the progress and development by putting efforts into a unique study theme in the basic study of natural science that contributes to the promotion of health in human being.
  2. A candidate must be a single person in principle, but if a study is made collaboratively with a different study group, joint names are acceptable.
  3. Repeated recommendation of the same candidate is possible.

    • The Japanese Society for Neurochemistry
    • The Japanese Biochemical Society
    • The Society for Biotechnology, Japan
    • The Biophysical Society of Japan
    • Physiological Society of Japan
    • The Zoological Society of Japan
    • Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology and Agrochemistry

    (※A member of selection committee is not able to become a recommending person.)
  • The number of recommendation is one per one recommending person.

Method of recommendation

  • After a recommending person signing and placing a seal in the recommendation of a candidate, please send it to the Foundation by mail.

Deadline date

  • It must arrive at the Foundation by October 3(Monday), 2011

Screening method

  • The board of directors' meeting decides the person after being reviewed by the selection committee.
  • The result shall be reported to the candidate and the recommending person in February 2012.

Presentation ceremony

  • Husband and wife of the award recipient are requested to be present at the presentation ceremony held on March 19 (Monday), 2012.

Award

  • Award recipient is presented with The Naito Foundation Merit Award for Advancement of Science <Gold Medal and supplementary prize of 10 million yen>

Others

  1. A recommendation paper must be printed in both sides.
  2. If a recommendation is made by an academic society, an official seal of the society must be placed on the recommendation.
  3. If a recommendation is made by a director, an auditor, or a councilor, the personal seal of this person must be placed on the recommendation.
